Arthur E. Moxley of Longmont died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 72.
He was born July 12, 1928, to W. Ronden and Ethel Irene (Relyea) Moxley in Greenwich, Conn.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and His master’s degree from the University of Vermont. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.
On February 18, 1951, he married Ann Koch in Greenwich.
Mr. Moxley was a member of the U.S. Airforce Reserves when his unit was called into active duty in 1951. He served until 1953.
He was an electrical engineer for the Rockbestes Co. of New Haven, Conn., from 1953 to 1955. In February 1956, he joined IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He transferred to the Longmont/Boulder plant in 1966.
Following his retirement in 1990, he was a teacher and lecturer at the University of Colorado through a job-share program with IBM until 1993. While at CU, he also was chapter adviser for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Mr. Moxley was active in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth and serving as a scoutmaster, Weeblos leader and, most recently, Cub Scout den leader.
He loved woodworking, the outdoors, canoeing, hiking, and camping.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Longmont First Ward.
Mr. Moxley is survived by his wife of Longmont; three sons, Mark Moxley and his wife Cheryl Holloway of Lander, Wyo., Roy Moxley and his wife Beth Legere-Moxley of Colfax, Wash., and Karl Moxley and his wife Carol Ann of Merdidian, Idaho; two daughters, Claire Squires of Atlanta and Fern Berger and her husband Tracy of Longmont; two brothers, Robert Moxley and his wife Connie of Orlando, Fla., and Donald Moxley and his wife Dorothy of Norwich, Conn.; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Longmont First Ward, 2200 11th Ave. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.
Interment will take place at at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Boy Scouts of America.
